MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Asafoetida Plant is strongly foetid brownish resinous latex which comes from a perennial plant, which grows up to more than 2m height, having large bipinnate radical leaves and developing a massive fleshy rootstock. The inflorescence is produced in the 5th year of growth on a thick flowering stem to 10 cm thick and to 3m high. Yellow flowers in umbels apper in mid-spring. Native to Eastern persia and Western Afghanistan. From Afghanistan it is imported into India as Milk of Asafoetida.
The medicinal plant Asafoetida Plant is used for colic, dyspepsia, asthma, hysteria, constipation, chronic bronchitis, whooping cough, epilepsy, mental diseases and liver diseases.
