MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Common Begonia is an annual succulent herb, growing up to 25 cm. It is quite common among forested hilly regions of Western Ghats, and is seen growing on sheltered moss covered rocks, in groups. Slender branches are smooth, succulent and red in color. Alternately arranged ovate, acute leaves with crenate margins, are 3-8 cm long. Leaf base is unequally heart-shaped. Flowers occur on slender stalks. Male flowers are 1 cm across, pink in color, and have 2 petals and 2 sepals. Female flowers have 5 unequal perianth segments. Capsules are 608 mm, 3 winged. Flowering: June-September.
The whole plant juice taken against acidity.
