MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Long, stiff grayish green leaves lined in sharp spines, looking and piercing skin like curving swords. Healthy two-year old plants send up a tall, slender flower stalk from the center of the leaf rosette in spring’s warmth. Atop this stalk is a rounded mass that bears tiny purplish blue flowers, later becoming juicy, forming a little pineapple. The fruit is capped with a small rosette of leaves, called a coma, that will take root in the soil after the fruit naturally decays and drops to the ground.
The root, flower and fruit of Charukadacha is used for kidney diseases.
