MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
An erect, small, dwarf shrub up to 38 cm in height with a slender much branched hairy stem; leaves simple, numerous, sub sessile, ovate, acute, densely silky hairy; flower white, in small clusters in the axils of the upper leaves, corolla lobes reflexes, hairy on the back near the tip; fruits ovoid capsules, pointed and pubescent at the apex; seeds usually solitary.
The plant is acrid, bitter, thermogenic, alterant, anthelmintic, expectorant, carminative, digestive, stomachic, aphrodisac, haematinic and tonic, and is useful in vitiated conditions of kapha and pitta, consumption, asthma, bronchitis, urethrorrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, colic, anorexia, helminthiasis, anaemia, diabetes, leprosy and general debility.
